Evidence Based Practices

Evidence Based Practice (EBP) is the integration of clinical expertise, patient values, and research evidence into the decision-making process for patient care. EBPs by nature offers less variation in care and may lead to fewer unnecessary treatments or procedures. They promote patient safety through the provision of effective and efficient healthcare.

Research and outcomes are integral components to evaluating the influence of an EBP. Evidence Based performance and process improvement management should be based upon clinical research evaluating the impact of interventions on Member outcomes. The objective of maintaining services that promote the use of EBPs is to improve Member experiences and Member outcomes.

Currently, Magellan supports a wide range of EBPs across Magellan’s contracted Network. Providers can also access Magellan’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for more resources.
